Garlic mash (Ve)

This is a lovely variation on traditional mashed potatoes.


1kg potatoes suitable for mashing (e.g. King Edward’s, Roosters etc)

2 cloves of garlic

knob of butter or sunflower spread if cooking vegan

splash of milk - substitute with soya milk to make it vegan

chopped parsley to garnish

Serves 4

You can omit the garlic for 'straight' mash!


Peel the potatoes and place them in a pan of water with the peeled cloves of garlic and boil until the potatoes are tender – usually 15-20 minutes, depending on size.

Drain off the water and add the butter/sunflower spread and milk. Mash well until smooth and creamy. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve immediately.
